Research
The concept of implementing capsules and systems are underlying theme heavily present within Metabolism, and as such, it felt like an appropriate avenue from which to explore such themes.
The main outcome of this project was a publication surrounding the history and context of Metabolism. Within this, I experimented with various media and printmaking techniques such as cyanotype and screen printing. The final version was a perfect bind, with a mixture of different stocks throughout the book.
Along with the publication, I also decided to develop a modular typeface in response to the subject matter. Whilst designing and structuring a typeface that displays visual and logical design connections that relate to the given subject can be restricting, it was a welcome change from self-initiated and unconfined design work.
